Tom Mcrea’s fourth album is all things one has come to expect from an artist of such divine and delicate persuasion – plus a whole lot more.  King Of Cards is far bigger and bolder in production, yet still comes replete with all the ethereal shockwaves of beauty that only an artist of Mcrea’s intelligence and sensitivity, could musically bequeath.
The astonishingly beautiful ‘Deliver Me’ alone, in which McRea asks: ‘’Are you a gift or a curse/From this place, darling please, deliver me,’’ will no-doubt riddle an entire platoon of James Blunt types with envy (and have them running for the hills in no time).
This can only be a good thing.
